Sunrise Design Services is an owner-operated residential drafting and design company serving homeowners, owner-builders, and contractors throughout Washington and Oregon.
Sunrise prepares practical, permit-ready plan packages for custom homes, additions, remodels, ADUs, garages, shops, and other residential projects.
Our goal is to turn each client’s ideas into clear, buildable plans that work for the homeowner, contractor, and building department. Every project is approached with attention to design, construction methods, structural requirements, permitting considerations, and the practical realities of building.
Meet the Owner
Matt Brosnan founded Sunrise Design Services in 1998 and brings more than 30 years of residential design experience to every project.
His background also includes more than 20 years of construction experience and approximately 10 years working in wood-truss design and manufacturing. This combination provides a practical understanding of how a project moves from an initial idea to a completed set of plans and, ultimately, to the job site.
That experience helps Sunrise identify potential construction and design issues before they become expensive problems during permitting or construction. Plans are developed not only to show how a project should look, but also to clearly communicate how it can be built.
Matt works directly with each client throughout the design process. Because Sunrise is owner-operated, clients are not passed between salespeople, project managers, and multiple designers. The person discussing your ideas is also the person developing your plans.
A Practical Approach to Residential Design
A successful residential plan must meet several needs at once.
It must reflect the homeowner’s goals, provide clear information for the contractor, and address the requirements of the reviewing building department. Sunrise Design Services considers all three throughout the design process.
We use residential design experience, construction knowledge, 3D modeling, and code-conscious drafting to develop plans that are understandable, coordinated, and practical to build.
When a project qualifies, structural elements may be designed using prescriptive residential-code provisions. When professional engineering is required, Sunrise can prepare the plans for review and coordinate with a qualified third-party engineer.
Our role is to help clients understand the process, make informed design decisions, and move forward with a plan package suited to their project.
